Now that my Outlook has the password I can't try this, but without signing out of the account (OS) maybe someone can right-click whatever starts Outlook (icon on desktop, etc) and pick More.

Skype for Business does ask for the password, or you can get it to ask by closing the app and re-opening it, but then again, Skype wasn't developed by Microsoft. Unfortunately, that means it when you do need to enter the password changing the "always prompt" setting is unavailable when you need it. I guess that means it's up to the user to check the remember box whenever Outlook does prompt. Our +Exchange server setting to "Always prompt for password" is unchecked and grayed out - I assume by group policy. I'm guessing that even though one clears the credentials, something is still remembered somewhere in memory (the OS? Office? background "service" or whatever) and that isn't cleared unless you sign out of the account. Today I changed my AD password and +Outlook 2016 eventually said "Need password" in the lower right-ish of the Outlook window (status area) but it wouldn't prompt for the password, even after closing OL, clearing the credentials and re-opening Outlook.+Įventually, I signed out of the account, then signed back in (Win 10 32-bit if that matters) and after opening Outlook it finally prompted for the password. I feel like I've missed some information, but I'm not sure what. The second link points to a registry key that simply does not exist for me and is seemingly not applicable in Outlook 2016. Links I've tried will be at the bottom of this post. I've seen a few other folks with this problem, but those fixes don't work for me. I've removed his password info from Credential Manager. I don't know if it matters, but our O365 setup uses ADFS. I've reached out to the mail team, but I've been told there's no changes that have been made that should cause this. I run O365 personally and I'm able to get it to have me enter a password each time, but our organizational one won't.

As far as I know, it's Windows 10, but I'm not sure of the Office version.

I'm working on getting details on the system it's working on. This seems to work on one of his computers, but not the other. I have a client here that wants to be prompted for his password every time he opens Outlook.
